Our Story, Our Promise

Founded in 2024 by Montreal natives within the Jewish community, Leftastone emerged from our own experiences with loss and the understanding that sometimes, despite our best intentions, we can't always be physically present at the cemetery to commemorate those we have lost.

Over the years, we found ourselves visiting gravesites on behalf of family and friends, fulfilling their wishes to visit the resting places of loved ones when they couldn't be there in person due to weather, distance, illness, or emotional readiness. Whether it was to uphold Jewish tradition, honour special occasions, respect the holidays, or simply to say hello, we were there to help them maintain that connection. What began as a personal favour evolved as we realized that many others needed this kind of care and attention.

Leftastone reflects our deep reverence for tradition - combining the sacred practice of leaving stones at gravesites with the meaningful act of using our left hand, closest to our hearts, honouring the eternal bond between the living and those who have passed. In our tradition, each stone placed serves as an enduring mark of presence and devotion - a silent yet powerful way of saying 'I was here, I remember, I honour you.' We understand that visiting departed ones is a deeply personal and emotional experience. When you can't be there in person, we will be there on your behalf, ensuring that your presence is felt and your wishes are fulfilled. We create a meaningful connection between you and those you hold dear, no matter the distance or circumstances that keep you apart. As your representatives, we treat each visit with the utmost respect and privacy, mindful of the sacred nature of these moments. We offer the comfort of knowing your loved ones are always remembered and cared for. Our service honours both our ancient customs and our contemporary needs for connection across distances. A Yahrzeit candle, נר נשמה is lit during your visit, and a personalized stone is placed on the gravesite on your behalf. These rituals serve as a testament to the love we carry for those who have passed.  As part of our commitment, we also donate a portion of the proceeds each year to support host cemeteries, helping to maintain the resting places of our cherished ones.
